While it’s popular for being one of Singapore’s original heartlands with an Outstanding Building Award by the Singapore Institute of Architects in 1983, Ang Mo Kio is not really known for tourist attractions. Unbeknownst to many, it has several cultural spots and fun activities that you can now try:
1. Ang Mo Kio Garden West

This is actually a greenhouse surrounded by gardens and parks. This scenic attraction is perfect for a stress-free run and other physical activities, especially during the early evening. It’s also a beautiful place to take pictures: the looming trees and the vibrant greens of the shrubbery make a gorgeous photoshoot backdrop.
2. Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park

The Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park serves as a bridge between Ang Mo Kio and Bishan, the
neighboring town. Because of its size and the number of activities you can do here, this is an ideal spot to hang out with your friends, do some stretching exercises, have relaxed romantic dates, take nice photos or take your family out for a change. The park is dog-friendly as well, designed to accommodate pets by setting up dog run paths and pet drinking fountains. Check out the interesting attractions within the park: the Cleansing Biotope, a waterway filled with plants to filter the ponds and rivers in the park; the Landscape Pond, which has circular platforms on the water to resemble giant lily pads; and the Recycle Hill, where the ‘Enclosure for a Swing’ sits a metal sculpture that symbolizes the park’s distance from the city.
3. Ang Mo Kio Town Council

This is where you can get your most gram-worthy shots. Several murals that reminisce the old Ang Mo Kio lines the block, paying homage to the kampong spirit of the place as it was in the past and its residents. The paintings mostly illustrate the everyday workings of life as it was back then.
4. Keban Baru Bird Singing Club

The Keban Baru Bird Singing Club is a socializing hub for casual and serious bird watchers and bird owners. There are bird-singing competitions that are held very early on the weekends. The club started out in the 1980s, and since then, the bird-singing spectatorship has become a tradition passed on by members who train the birds for the show. The best thing about it is that the shows are free.
5. Dragon Playground

The Dragon Playground was constructed in 1978, designed to be entirely rubber-matted. The tear and wear inflicted by the years actually make the whole thing look charming and retro, especially with the color choices of rubber.
Ang Mo Kio is a picturesque city that will make daily activities such as walking your dogs and going on a run not boring because of its beautiful parks and sceneries. Whether it’s the parks or the playground, the attractions deserve a spot in your travel feed.
